Why Is It So Hard to Make $ In MLMs?
If I had a nickel for every time I heard this, I’d be on a vacation in Tahiti right now….
It actually isn’t HARD. Climbing Mount Everest is HARD. Stacking greased b-b’s is HARD. Swimming the English Channel is HARD. Making money in a network marketing company isn’t hard. It actually is pretty easy.
Here’s how you do it:
1. PICK A COMPANY AND STICK WITH IT! There are far more legitimate companies out there than fly-by-night scams. So, picking a company isn’t difficult. Want to be introduced to tons in a matter of seconds? Go on Yahoo! Answers and ask people what MLM they would recommend. Your inbox will be flooded shortly.
Look for a company that sells a product that interests you. Are you a health nut? Look for vitamin or fruit juice companies- there are plenty! Have you been obsessed with makeup since you were a little girl? Guess what? There are tons of companies that sell makeup that would be thrilled to have you as a distributor. Love to travel? You guessed it- lots of companies to choose from!
Once you’ve found a company with a product you like, SIT STILL FOR GOODNESS SAKES!
One of the main reasons people don’t make money is that they are always looking for something better. Just quit looking around, quit typing in “XYZ Scam” into Google trying to find some reason why you should quit. Quit being enticed by ads that say if you switch to ABC company, “we’ll build the business for you”. Stop trying to see if the grass is greener on the other side…it isn’t.
2. EDUCATE YOURSELF. Unless you are a master- business person, you’ve got to LEARN about how to build a successful business. Talk to your sponsor or upline. Do what they do. Unless of course, you don’t want to build the business the way they do. If that’s the case, educational materials abound…want a cheap, great one? Check this out. You need to get a mentor or two or three and STUDY THOSE PEOPLE. If you want to be successful, study those who are successful, then do what they do!
3. BE CONSISTENT. If you can’t dedicate at least a couple of hours a day- it is going to take quite some time to build your business. I don’t care what anyone tells you, an hour once a week won’t cut it. I work my business part-time, but even still, I spend at least 3-4 hours PER DAY on my business. Working the business one day a week, or every other week won’t bring in the dough. If you are choosing Oprah or American Idol over your business- then making money in a network marketing company is HARD. If you opt to read a trashy romance novel over an educational book…..If you buy some expensive gadget over spending money to grow your business….I hope you aren’t surprised at the difficulty that you are having making money in your business.
4. GIVE YOURSELF CREDIT FOR MILESTONES. Don’t scoff at your first commission check of $10.00. Don’t be annoyed at the time it takes to get your first distributor, celebrate your achievements. I celebrated each commission check, until they started coming in regularly! Once I made the “Comma Club”- a four-figure commission check, I celebrated again. When my distributors got their first distributor, I celebrated. And best of all, a couple of days ago, I REALLY celebrated as I climbed into my new Lexus purchased with the money I made in my business! Celebrate each milestone, and then watch how fast those milestones pile up!
5. DON’T QUIT. The one thing that really sends me over the edge, is when I hear, “well, I’ll just try it for 6 months and see if it works”. Let me save you the 6 months and the money- IT WON’T WORK. With a mentality of failure, and that is what that comment indicates, the outcome is already determined. You’ve given yourself a way out. Presumably people do this to protect themselves from failure. Ironically, failure is exactly what they get when they quit! Before you join a company, just make sure that you tell yourself “failure is not an option. Quitting is not an option.” Go ahead and plan to spend the next 3 years growing the business, and you’ll be on the fast track to success!
No matter what you think…you CAN succeed in Network Marketing. Yes, it will take hard work and total dedication, but I’ll tell you what- if a first-time network marketer can buy a Lexus from money working a business part-time- you can too!

Are You Ready to Make Some $$$ in 2008?
On the airplane ride out to California over the holidays, I began reading Robert Kiyosaki's #1 Bestseller Rich Dad, Poor Dad: What the Rich Teach Their Kids about Money That the Poor and Middle Class Do Not!
Over the next few months I'll be sharing some pearls of wisdom I learned from this book. To start off 2008, think about this...
So many people are fixated on working their way up the corporate ladder. Why in the world is this so appealing? Why not own the ladder? Robert's "Rich Dad" encouraged him to always remember who you are working for...who are you making rich?
In my legal world, I am a fifth-year associate. I work for the partners in the law firm. I get a small portion of that $190 I bill per hour. I am making the partners rich. If I stick with it, I can become a partner and get to keep a larger chunk of that money. Doesn't sound that exciting does it? Sure, I can make a good living...but I know for a fact that I won't become wealthy. I want to make money even when I'm not working on my business. But, if I continue on my course, I will seal my fate as being stuck in the rat race.
Robert talks a lot about the rat race in his book, and basically that is working for a pay check, giving a hefty portion of your money to the government in taxes (sales tax, property tax, fuel tax, income tax, capital gains tax...), then what you have left you spend most and save a little (and of course you'll be taxed on what you save). Even when you start making a little more money, you find yourself spending more money, giving more money to the government, perhaps racking up some credit card debt to pay for the high price of tuition, gas, living expenses...It's a never ending cycle. As a Probate lawyer, I see what happens to the average person who works their whole life, and saves a little money. They leave a bunch of bills, funeral expenses, etc. and they have little to no money to give to their family.
I am fortunate to have realized over a year ago that I could easily end up in this situation if I didn't make a change in my life. I am willing to bet that this may be the situation many of you could be facing as well.
The good news is there is another option. You CAN get out of the rat race. Robert says "every day, with every dollar, you decide to be rich, poor, or middle class". I think this is true with every decision you make regarding how you spend your time as well. Time away from building your business moves you closer to a future in the rat race.
With a fresh new year laid out before you, you can re-commit yourself to building your business. If you pushed the business to the side during the holidays, put that behind you. Now is when people are really looking for a change. The credit card bills will be arriving shortly showing us how much we really spent over the holidays. People will be looking to bring in some extra money each month, and that's where you come in!
Don't let this high-season of network marketing pass you by. Attraction Marketing can help you get there! Just last week, while Richard and I were on vacation, a lady joined our business...I had never even spoken with her! Guess how she found me? Attraction Marketing!
If you want to get out of the rat race, and start building your business like we have, without cold-calling leads and chasing around family members and friends-you can if you go here now!

The Ladder of Success

I learned so much from Mr. Glankler over the past 25 years, and a lot of it came in the form of mottos. One in particular, on the topic of success, is so powerful that I just had to share it with you. He said: "The ladder of success is only crowded at the bottom, so keep climbing, but with honor"
When you think about it, everyone who joins a business does so with the intention of succeeding. When they do so, they are at the bottom of the success ladder. The statistics don't lie. The vast majority will stay at the bottom of the ladder, while only a small percentage will climb up to the top of the ladder and attain "success".
For the most part, the difference in the person at the top and the person at the bottom isn't that one is a "super recruiter" while the others are simply doomed to fail. Not all "successful" people are 100% extroverts blessed with the gift of selling. So, what makes the difference in success and failure?
As the old saying goes, "Successful people do what unsuccessful people are unwilling to do". The successful people don't quit. No matter what is thrown their way, they continue to climb the ladder.
The "rest" crowding the bottom of the ladder CHOOSE to be there. They make the choice to remain at the bottom every time they choose to watch TV over attending a training seminar or reading a book to improve their business. They make a choice to remain at the bottom every time they read a great training book, and then choose to leave it at that- instead of taking the action steps recommended in the book. They make that choice when they decide to spend their valuable time researching whether or not their company is doomed for failure instead of spending their time building their business. They make the choice to stay at the bottom when they choose to quit at the first sign of adversity. Sadly, those who hop from business to business THINK they are hopping "up" the ladder, when in fact, they are hopping from the bottom rung of one ladder to the bottom rung of another.
Another important aspect of Mr. Glankler's motto is moving up the ladder with honor. Mr. Glankler was a true man of honor. He was wounded on the island of Peleliu fighting for our country at the age of 17. He was awarded the Purple Heart for his valor. He was a brilliant trial-lawyer who dedicated his life to helping those who couldn't defend themselves. Even after he retired in 2004 at the age of 78, he kept a watchful eye on justice. He paraded the banner of injustice in regard to predatory lending. He helped to pass the Predatory Lending Bill in Tennessee. In everything he did, Mr. Glankler conducted himself honorably. This is what made him a great man.
That is why it is of the utmost importance to me (and hopefully to you) to grow your business in an honorable way. Don't hype the opportunity to prospects, don't fudge the time and effort it takes to succeed in this business, and don't exaggerate income potential. Don't value the power of the buck over the well-being of another individual. If you know someone is in a desperate financial situation, don't go for the sale if you know they don't have the ability to do what it takes to succeed...unless you let them know on the front end that it takes time and effort to get the money rolling in. If you know the business isn't a right fit, don't be afraid to say "no" to the prospect. At the end of the day, you will feel better for doing the honorable thing.
The moral of the story: continue to do the daily tasks necessary to build your business, and I'll look forward to seeing you at the top of the ladder of success!
To the Top!

The Vacuum Salesman
We were very surprised when we received an e-mail a few days later from this person, who told us that he thought that attraction marketing seemed to be something for people who feared rejection and were too scared to talk to people. He said:
"Years ago I knew a guy who was a sales manager with a vacuum cleaner outfit. He said the best vacuum cleaner salesman he ever knew was a guy that had the simplicity, transparency and fortitude to knock on doors...vacuum cleaner in hand...with the words: "Could I interest you in a new vacuum cleaner today?"No razzle dazzle, no hype, no misinformation, nothing sophisticated...just telling it like it is! He understood and accepted the fact that he was a vacuum cleaner salesman. He also understood and accepted the fact that most people would not be interested. His forthrightness, honesty and persistence made him a very nice living. The only people that didn't like him, or his style, were the other salesmen who were jealous (and cowardice).
They spent most of their time trying to figure out how to get their "foot in the door" so they could sell vacuum cleaners without looking or acting like a vacuum cleaner salesmen. Huh?"We were to say the least, intrigued by this person's perspective, but we realized that he didn't understand the principles of attraction marketing. I let Rich tackle this one- and below is his response to the vacuum cleaner salesman hypothetical:
Here's the thing, we are not interested in finding door to door vacuum cleaner salesmen (job seekers). We want to find people who want to open a vacuum cleaner store (business owners) on the busiest corner of their city (the internet) and provide customer service to customers who visit them wishing to purchase a vacuum.
Do you see the difference?
There is a reason there are virtually no door to door salesmen running around trying to make a living in this country now. The store that sets up shop and markets theirbusiness correctly does not have to send people (traditional MLM reps) out trying to lure anyone who walks by their store to try to get them to come in and buy a vacuum. They know that by positioning themselves correctly, they will attract people to them who are in the market for a vacuum (people who are looking for a business). In the same way that not everyone who walks by a vacuum store is in the market for a vacuum, not everyone you know or walk within three feet of is in the market for a business. Could you stand on a street corner and talk to everyone who walked by about an MLM business and eventually find someone who was interested?Absolutely.
But the question is why would you waste your time doing that when there is way to build your business that is infinitely more professional and much more effective? I promise you the answer has nothing to do with fear of rejection. Does your local dentist walk around Starbucks handing out business cards to everyone withina 3 foot radius? No. Why not? Because it is completely unprofessional and ineffective.
Any serious entrepreneur who is approached in this manner is likely to be turned off by this approach from a network marketer as well. Attraction marketing allows you to attract a high quality prospect to you, while weeding out the majority of tire kickers and dreamers who have no intention of truly building a business.

My Marketing Secret
The best alternative I could think of, was to lead you to the place that taught me all about attraction marketing and how to generate more leads and more cash for my business as quickly as possible.
This book taught me how to use the powerful psychology behind “attraction marketing” strategies so I could start to attract their prospects and customers to me. In just six short months, my downline grew by leaps and bounds, and not once did I approach a single one of these prospects. They contacted ME for more information, which was so much more powerful than getting rejection after rejection from expensive leads, and trying to survive through all 100 No's so I could get my one "YES".
This resource has worked so well that it revolutionized the way many people now approach this industry. Over the past two years, this system has changed the lives of over 100,000 entrepreneurs around the world, and on November 14th, the program is going to get even better. Best of all, the upgraded system will be FREE for people who have already purchased their copy of the Magnetic Sponsoring course. There are no monthly fees to pay, and if you already have an existing system account, you’ll be upgraded automatically on the day of the launch at no cost. If you don’t have an account, you can get one today just by picking up a copy of the Magnetic Sponsoring course for less than $40. It’s a physical course that will be shipped to your home, and you’ll have instant access the new system when it launches on the 14th.
Bottom line, one year ago today, I was going through my list of 100 warm market prospects, and getting one "No" after another. Yesterday, I got a phone call from a prospect who had just called to let me know she was joining my business. This is a regular occurance for me now, thanks to this course. So you tell me...is it worth a measly $40 to learn how to get prospects to contact you? If you think it is, then go here now.

It's OK to Let a Prospect Go
Then I was introduced to “sizzle cards”. I made thousands of the little yellow cards with the catchy phrase: “Tired of Living Paycheck to Paycheck?” and my website address. I left my cards all over the city….in bathroom stalls, with my server’s tip at the end of a meal, on gas pumps, on grocery store shelves, inside books in the book store, on newspaper stands, at checkout counters…you name it. Sure enough I did get some prospects signing up for more information.
Unfortunately, though, when I got a “bite” and the prospect showed the slightest bit of interest, I latched on for dear life. This could be a sale. I needed this sale. How soon could I make the sale? All of this pressure caused me to be anxious when we parted ways. “Did they like the presentation?” “Did I give them too much information?” “Did I give them too little information?” “Are they really interested?” “When should I follow-up?” “How should I follow up?” If the prospect said that he “hated to sell” or “is this a pyramid scheme” or “I don’t really have any money,” I tried to convince them otherwise. My upline called this “handling objections.” For weeks I studied up on all of the objections and the “appropriate responses” to the objections, along with the specific “close.”
Then, one day, I was introduced to the concept of “Attraction Marketing”. In a nutshell, it is the idea that by providing valuable information to others, you will have prospects contacting you to join your business. I spent a whole lot of time researching everything I could on this powerful concept, which made far more sense to me than the initial marketing strategy provided to me by my upline.
I remember one evening in particular, when I read an article suggesting that “not everyone is your prospect”. Wow! What a concept! It really fell in line with all of the no’s I had gotten over my first 6 months in the business. Then I started thinking about why it is that that statement is true. It is true because not everyone wants to be a business owner. Not everyone has the time it takes to build a business from the ground up. Some people value time with family or time outdoors, more than late evenings clicking away on the computer. Others like the safety associated with receiving a regular paycheck. Some don’t have the patience. Others don’t have the money. It takes people of all sorts to make this world go ‘round, so it’s okay and not unusual that not everyone is your prospect.
Back to my studies on Attraction Marketing…. I started implementing the techniques I had learned, and sure enough, I had prospects contacting me on a regular basis. I had people joining my business without ever speaking with me. Because I had so many interested prospects contacting me, I was able to see the variety of prospects out there. In that group of prospects, there were always a couple of serious business builders with an understanding of what it takes to truly succeed in the business, and then there were some who said:
“Is this a pyramid scheme?”
“Gee, this sounds like it takes a lot of time”
“I am trying to decide if I should spend my last $500 on the business or pay my creditors so I don’t have to file for bankruptcy” (the answer: pay your creditors).
For these types of people, I just knew in my heart, my business wasn’t right for them. So what did I do? I told them just that. They were shocked, but I think appreciated my forthrightness. I truly felt relieved after letting them go. I knew that if these people had joined my business, they would have been the ones to gripe and moan the entire time, only to quit a few months later, and accuse the company (or me) of being a scam. I realized that I had just saved myself from a massive headache.
My focus turned from trying to get a prospect to join the business at any cost- by convincing them it’s okay if they have no money, no time, and no desire to sell…to finding the right type of prospect (a business- builder) to join my team. I am not trying to sponsor anyone and everyone- I want to sponsor those who are truly serious about building a business.
The right person knows what it takes to succeed, knows that success doesn’t happen overnight, knows that it will take some money and a whole lot of time. The right person doesn’t start the conversation off with what they “can’t do” or “don’t have” or “don’t want to do”. The right person has their eyes on the prize and they are ready to do whatever it takes to get there.
That is one thing I can’t teach or give to my team…the burning desire and dedication to stick through it through the beginning phase, when you invest far more time and money than the money you earn.
So when people contact me for more information and they raise these so-called “red flags,” I don’t hesitate one bit to just let them go, and tell them that the business may not be right for them.
I don’t have time to deal with people who have to ask me if this is a “pyramid scheme”. When I was looking into my current business, I did the research myself to answer that question. If the prospect doesn’t think enough of the opportunity to look into the issue on their own, then I feel certain that they won’t do what it takes to really succeed in this business. Those prospects are the type of people who want to look at the answers to the crossword puzzle instead of figuring it out themselves. They want success to be spoon-fed to them. There are plenty of opportunities out there that will spoon-feed these people…they are called J-O-B-S. Now, don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing wrong with having a J-O-B, but owning a business takes an entirely different mind frame. So, if you have a prospect like that, just let them go. At some point in the future, everything may click with them- but at the current moment, let them go. They’ll respect you far more, because you had the strength and the decency to level with them, as opposed to convincing them to do something that they more likely than not, aren’t cut out for at that particular time.
How do I know that all of this works? I know because I have a group of solid business-builders on my team. I don’t have whiners and complainers. I know because once I let the weak prospects go, I was flooded with strong ones.

How I Build YTB Without Cold Calls or Hotel Meetings
Many readers of this blog are already in YTB, so I wanted to write on a topic that addresses the timeless question: "How do I build my business after I've exhausted my warm market?"
When I joined YTB almost a year ago, I started just like most people, excitedly telling my family and friends about my new business venture. It was such an easy concept- the product practically sold itself, right? Wrong. Turns out my friends and family wanted to see results before they leaped in head first, so I started looking for other answers.
This lead me to printing out "sizzle cards" that said "Tired of Living Paycheck to Paycheck?" and "Are You Making More Money Than You Can Spend" with my website address on it. Then I proceeded to blanket the city with my yellow "sizzle card". Gas pumps, bathroom stalls, inside books at the bookstore, on grocery store shelves, I left them for waitresses, bank tellers, you name it. I got some visits to my website, but pretty much everyone gawked at the idea of spending close to $500 to start a business.
Then I tried to print up pretty flyers, advertising a home-based travel business. I put these flyers on what felt like every apartment complex bulletin board in the city and on cars in strip mall parking lots. Nevermind that I was crazily blanketing the city with bright flyers in freezing temperatures- I was on a mission...one which once again led to people who were interested at first, but ultimately didn't want to spend the money.
I was tired of rejection, and spending my weekends strategically putting flyers and cards all over town. It occurred to me that maybe "selling" wasn't my thing...maybe I wasn't presenting the business right. My sponsor could do it, why couldn't I?
Determined to make the business work, I started looking for answers. I needed a way to build my business without cold-calling, sizzle cards, flyers and hotel meetings. I found a solution, one that surprisingly many people do not know about. It's called "Attraction Marketing".
Basically, I've experienced two types of marketing: "Attraction Marketing" and "Distraction Marketing". Anyone who has ever been shunned from activities with their family members and friends has obviously used Distraction Marketing techniques. Thanks to Attraction Marketing, the days of chasing disinterested prospects and cold calling are over...at least for me and Rich.
We now have prospects regularly contacting us asking us about YTB. We now have people who join YTB on our team, without ever speaking with us on the phone! An old school ,"Distraction Marketing", sales process typically goes something like this: You introduce your family members or friends to your latest business with a great deal of enthusiasm, which is likely to be greeted with a great deal of resistance about nine out of ten times.That is the ratio that you can expect when using old school network marketing techniques. One out of ten people you talk to will be interested in joining your business, maybe two out of ten, if you're really good. This ratio leaves you with eight or nine family members and friends who may want to avoid you like the plague for the next month because they don't want to feel pressured into joining your business, in other words they don't want to be "distracted" from their activities by your sales pitch.
"Attraction Marketing" offers a much different process and outcome. This type of marketing uses on and off-line strategies to build a constant stream of interested prospects. To implement this type of marketing plan, a network marketer begins by offering valuable information to their prospects, which lays a foundation to establish an identity as a leader.By making yourself an indispensable source of information, you will literally have people calling you with credit card in hand, ready to join your business. With attraction marketing, you don't waste your time bothering disinterested prospects.By implementing a system that allows your prospects to get to know and trust you, review your information, then contact you when they are ready, you are no longer wasting your valuable time dealing with people who have no desire to join your business.
Instead, the people you talk to are well informed and ready to move forward with your opportunity.Proponents of old school network marketing techniques often cite the fact that network marketing is a numbers game. Using the Internet to market yourself, enables you to sort through far more people than you could ever talk to personally, and with the right system, you can develop relationships with these people and build a duplicable business that will allow you to live the lifestyle of your dreams.
If you are ready to stop chasing family members and friends, and put away the cold-call lists, the following tips will help you get started on your Attraction Marketing campaign:1. Familiarize yourself with the marketing tools available on the Internet to learn more about how to promote your business effectively.
Look below to read Rich's full article entitled "The "Attraction" of Attraction marketing" and to see the tools that we used to learn about Attraction Marketing.
2. Create a blog that offers visitors valuable information about how to help them build a business, whether they join your business or not.
3. Visit web forums about topics that are related to your opportunity, and offer the members of the forum valuable information. These forums allow you to include a website in your signature file, which will drive traffic to your website when people read your posts.
4. Use advertising, traffic exchanges and articles to help promote your website and build your brand as a network marketing leader.5. Remember the importance of providing valuable information to your prospects, the more helpful your information, the more likely you are to attract people to your business.

Help Is On The Way!
- My sponsor signed me up, and now won't talk to me.
- My sponsor dropped out, and now I don't know what to do.
- My sponsor just joined the business, and doesn't know anything.
- My sponsor is great about recruiting people, but I just can't do it!
- My family and friends are avoiding me, I have exhausted my warm market- help!
- I don't have time to go to hotel meetings, and I hate cold calling leads, how can I succeed?
Unfortunately, due to the rapid growth of my business over the past few months, I can no longer respond to each of your messages, so here is my advice:
For those of you whose sponsors have dropped out, or are unhelpful, go upline until you find a leader who is able and willing to help you. (This should be a lesson for those of you looking at a business...make sure your sponsor is willing and able to help you) If you don't know who your upline is, call your company- tell them your situation, and I'm sure that they will be happy to help!
For those of you who want to know how I build my business- I use an Internet Marketing campaign, also known as an "Attraction Marketing" campaign.
Below is an excerpt from Rich's article "The "Attraction" of Attraction Marketing":
"Attraction Marketing" offers a much different process and outcome from the traditional MLM approach . This type of marketing uses on and off-line strategies to build a constant stream of interested prospects. To implement this type of marketing plan, a network marketer begins by offering valuable information to their prospects, which lays a foundation to establish an identity as a leader. By making themselves an indispensable source of information, they will literally have people calling them with credit card in hand, ready to join their business.
An attraction marketer will likely experience a ratio of about nine out of ten, only this time the ratio is reversed. Nine out of ten of the people they talk to will probably join their business, if they are doing things the right way. How can this be? With attraction marketing, you don't waste your time bothering disinterested prospects.By implementing a system that allows your prospects to get to know and trust you, review your information, then contact you when they are ready, you are no longer wasting your valuable time dealing with people who have no desire to join your business. Instead, the people you talk to are well informed and ready to move forward with your opportunity.
Your next question probably is:
I would recommend three different resources to teach you how to build your business this way. If you are serious about building your business, and learning how to do it without chasing prospects, going to hotel meetings, or cold-calling leads- you should seriously consider purchasing one or all of the following resources. We've bought all three, and we are REALLY glad we did!
(Want to know if they work? Over the past couple of months, I have prospects regularly contacting me ready to join my business. I have only spoken to 2 of the past 9 people who have joined my opportunity. )

A Beginner's Checklist to Promoting an Online Business (Part 1)
By Angela Wu
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Internet's full of hyped-up promises of the 'ultimate' marketing secret that will singlehandedly skyrocket your business to instant success.
Naturally, this is ALL it is: hype. There's no single 'secret' that will magically transform a fledgling business into a powerful money-maker. Instead, every business owner is responsible for testing and refining various techniques until he or she has developed a solid, effective base that produces the desired results.
What works for one business may not work for another! Likewise, another business may have poor results with one method, while others experience great success. Here's a quick checklist of some of the more popular -- and completely free -- marketing techniques to help you build your online business (note: this is a 3-part series).
PART 1: FREE ONLINE MARKETING TECHNIQUES
1. Build and use your own opt-in list of targeted and interested prospects. Offer a free newsletter that provides fresh, interesting, and relevant content. You'll receive feedback from your readers about what's important to them, and over time they'll come to know and trust you. Your products, services, and even recommendations will then be taken much more seriously because you've developed credibility with your readers.
2. Contribute to newsgroups or discussion boards. Establish yourself as a helpful member of a community. Other members of the community who come to know and respect you will often refer you to others.
3. Niche directories or search engines. Find all the highly-targeted directories and SEs for your market, and then work to get listed. You'll be surprised at how many niche sites there are! Good places to start looking are http://yahoo.com/ and http://www.dmoz.com/ .
4. Build your link popularity. For example, you can trade links with other businesses in your market so that you can 'share' each other's traffic. Most of the major search engines take link popularity into consideration when ranking your site.
5. Endorsed mailings to other lists. Find the editor of a great newsletter, and offer your product or service to him for free in return for a review or an endorsed ad to his list. Endorsements from the editor can far outperform regular 'ads', since they come from someone they know and trust (the editor).
6. Testimonials. It's fine for you to say that your product or service is wonderful... but there's far more 'punch' when someone else says it! Testimonials show prospects that you have happy customers and helps them to make the decision to buy.
7. Use autoresponders to follow-up with your prospects. It has been proven time and time again that autoresponders can dramatically increase your profits! They're also
great time-savers, saving you from following up with each prospect manually.
8. Ad swaps. You can get extra exposure for 'free' (no out-of-pocket expenses) by swapping ad space with another editor that caters to your audience. Plus it's a great way to put 'remnant' ad space to good use.
9. Join a webring. Link to other sites like yours and build an online 'community.'
10. Offer coupons or gift certificates to entice visitors to make a purchase *now*.
11. Make good use of referral marketing. Ask happy customers to refer prospects to you. Many people are so busy these days that they're willing to rely on a
trusted friend or contact's advice -- it saves them the time necessary to do all the research themselves.
12. Write and distribute articles in your area of expertise. This is a great credibility-builder! People who appreciate what you have to say are much more likely to check out your business. Another 'bonus' is that articles are often archived on websites for visitors to refer to time and time again.
13. Become an 'expert'. If you like to write and have the time to do so, consider partnering with a high-traffic site within your niche market and offer to write a regular column or article. You establish credibility and get exposure; your partner site and their readers get great content.
14. Use a 'Recommend-It' or 'Refer-A-Friend' script. These scripts let visitors send your URL to friends.
15. Make it easy for others to link to your site. Consider adding a 'Link to Us' section where you provide the HTML that visitors can simply cut and paste to their own web pages. Again, this helps to build your link popularity (see point #4).
16. Hold contests. For example, every month you could give away one of your products to a lucky subscriber or customer.
17. Use a signature. Also known as 'sig files', a signature is a brief blurb about your business along with your URL and/or contact information. Put a signature on every piece of email you send out, as well as on any message board posts (if appropriate).
18. Give away a quality free eBook or report. eBooks and reports can be excellent viral marketing tools. You can even offer them as a 'premium' to other businesses within your niche, so that they can give it away to their own customers or subscribers. This is an effective way to build a network that will willingly promote your business for you! More on promoting free eBooks and how they can help you can be found in the article, '10 Quick Tips on How to Create, Distribute, and Profit from Free eBooks': http://onlinebusinessbasics.com/articles/ebooktips.html
Hopefully this has given you a few helpful ideas on how to market your online business. In the next installment of this series, you'll read about several marketing techniques that may cost you money, but that can be worth the investment many times over. The final installment is all about marketing your online business in the 'offline' world! Stay tuned.
"How" versus "Why"
Copyright © Rich Hazlett
One of the biggest mistakes people often make is focusing too much attention on "How" they will succeed, instead of figuring out "Why" they must succeed. If you want to be successful, you need to give some serious thought to your "Why". Identifying exactly why you must succeed will serve as the driving force behind your accomplishments, and will be the impetus to propel you forward when your initial excitement about your goals begins to fade. It's easy for people to get hung up on "How" they will succeed, but "Why?" is actually a much more powerful question. Don't believe me?
Imagine someone threatened to kill you if you didn't earn $5,000 in the next month. The most important question you would need to ask yourself in this situation would be: "Why do I need to earn $5,000?" (hopefully, it would be: "so I can live") If your life depended on it, I'd be willing to bet the farm that the "How?" would figure itself out. The moral of the story: If your "Why" is strong enough, the "How" will take care of itself. You will find a way to succeed. It's kind of like the saying,"When the student is ready, the teacher will appear."
You need to take a little time to do some serious thinking about your "Why". If you aren't achieving the success you want in life, it's not because you aren't capable of success, it's just that you haven't decided why you must succeed. Once you've figured out your "Why", you're well on your way to achieving the success you desire.
As a sponsor in a network marketing business, it is important for you to have a plan for guiding your team away from the "How?" mentality. If someone on your team asks, "How do I become successful?" The best answer you can give is, "Why do you have to be successful?"
If you can communicate the importance of first asking "Why?" instead of "How?" to your team, you will have a group of individuals who are working their business with their own strong purpose in mind. A team with that mentality in network marketing is a powerful vehicle that will drive you to success.
Here are some steps to help you build a strong "Why":
First, spend about an hour just thinking about your goals and dreams. Imagine your dream lifestyle in every area of your life (emotional, physical, spiritual, family, business, etc.).
Next, spend about twenty minutes writing down everything you want for yourself with no limitations. Write down what you want to have, where you want to live, where you want to travel, what kind of car you want to drive, the types of relationships you want,etc. Have fun and don't worry about how you will accomplish these things right now. Remember, the point of this exercise is to build your "Why".
Then, tap into the creative side of your brain by building a visualization board that represents your "dream life" in pictures. Cut out pictures from magazines, brochures, and newspapers and post them on a board in a place where you can see your "dream life" several times a day.
You need to monitor the questions you ask yourself on daily basis. Make sure that you remember the power of knowing "Why" you want success. Don't fall back into the trap of worrying about "How" you will succeed. Remind yourself that it is the "Why", that will be the driving force behind your success.
Network Marketing Myth #2: "Anyone Can Do This"
In my opinion, the value of the truth contained in the statement is far outweighed by the sheer number of people it misleads.
Why is this statement only half true?
Well, whether we want to admit it or not, not all network marketers start their business on equal footing. Some come into the business with substantial advantages, while others come into the business with substantial disadvantages. Don’t believe me?
Let’s say 2 people want to start their business with Company Z.
Person A has been in network marketing for the past 10 years, was a top money earner with Company Y; and he’s been a network marketer full-time for the past 6 years, and has a faithful downline 1,000 strong.
Person B works 60 hours a week at a dead-end job, has bills up to his eyeballs, and has never been involved in network marketing, but he’s heard that “anyone can do it” so he’s ready to get going and get himself out of the financial rut he’s been in for the past 5 years. Who will be the first person to reach let’s just say $100,000 in 6 months? I’d be willing to be the farm that it’ll be Person A. Why?
Person A has significant advantages: he’s been in network marketing for 10 years (he has substantial experience); He was a top money earned (he has money to spend to grow his business); he is a full-time network marketer (he has time to build the business); and he has a faithful downline (he already has a customer base);
Person B represents a large percentage of people who find their way to network marketing. Person B is at a significant disadvantage in starting with Company Z. Person B works 60 hours a week (he won’t have much time to devote to the business); he has bills up to his eyeballs (he has very little money to build the business); and he has never been involved in network marketing (he has no experience).
Am I trying to discourage people who resemble Person B from getting into YTB?
Absolutely not! There are plenty of people out there that were just like Person B and who are now millionaires. That’s what makes network marketing the incredible business model that it is. However, Person B is going to have to do a lot of face-to-face presentations to get his business really going, and $100K will likely take 1-2 years, not 6 months.
What it boils down to is that everyone is on a different timeline. There are so many factors that determine how quickly and easily people start making money in network marketing. One of the most important factors is skill level. That is why we provide our YTB team members with step-by-step instruction and personal mentoring, to ensure that our beginners begin learning the skills necessary to succeed as soon as possible.
Another important factor is money. Although companies’ start-up costs vary widely, one thing that remains true for all companies is that you will need a monthly marketing budget. Most Sponsors and Top Money Earners won’t tell you that, but the reality is you will need money to market your business to its full potential.Why do you need a marketing budget? Well, without money, you won’t have a constant stream of fresh prospects that you need to build your business. There are two ways to get leads if you don't want to talk to everyone around you: buy them or generate them yourself through advertising. The ones you generate yourself will be far more qualified, but it costs money even to generate leads yourself.
The other main factor is time. Yes, you can start building your business with little time, but the more time you spend the quicker your business will grow. I personally no longer come home from work and gaze at the television for hours. Now, I come home and immediately start working on the business, oftentimes til 1 AM! My quick successes I know are attributable to my dedication by investing hour after hour to grow my business.
When Person B approaches me wanting to join YTB and become a Referring Travel Agent, I have a discussion with them about the reality of this business. I take them down off of the “anyone can do it” cloud, and let them see the true business advantages and disadvantages that they will be facing.
If paying the $500 start-up fee for becoming an RTA and the $50 monthly fee will leave them with $0 in the bank for growing their business, I do my best to persuade them to become a free Independent Marketing Representative (IMR) to start off, and then I teach them how they can make money quickly to fund their business, while teaching them the skills necessary to succeed in this business. Once they have some steady income, a few months of solid training on the business, then it is time for them to become an RTA.
Other sponsors sadly are out for the “Quick Sell”, they wouldn’t mind if a guy spent his last dime on becoming an RTA, only to have zero money to market his business. We don’t think that the Quick Sell is the way to build a business. In the short term, it’s great- more sales. In the long term, it’s a long list of discouraged, broke, and angry people.
The moral of this story: please be honest with your prospects. Tell them what it really takes to succeed in this business, and you will be rewarded with happy, successful business builders, which will in turn take you to the top of YTB!
The Truth About Network Marketing- Exposed!
Actually, less than 10% of network marketing companies are truly "scams". The reason why this industry has such a bad reputation, I believe, is because of the marketing methods used by many of the industry’s leaders. What methods? The hotel meeting, the sizzle call, the glossy brochure or video that highlights people making six-figures plus, driving around in Ferraris, standing in front of their mansion. Telling people that all they need to do is talk to everyone they know about the business, take them to a hotel meeting to hear a guy talk about his millions, and that's it. They talk about super duper bonuses when you get 1,000 people into the business. They tell you about how they got the super bonus in just 2 months. And if you get busy, you will too.
The truth is...this type of marketing doesn’t work out in the long run for a lot of people. I believe that the marketing style I mentioned is one of the main reasons why there is a 97% attrition rate in network marketing. Why? This form of marketing primarily appeals to people who: (1) are in a desperate financial situation or 2) want to make a quick buck. Neither one will stay in the business for more than a year, here’s why.
Type (1) People in a Desperate Financial Situation:
Network Marketing is a business not a job. Businesses take money to grow. Period. I don’t care what anyone else says, to grow a business you need money. You need money to make money. If you don’t have any money, you won’t be in business for long.
Most of these people end up dropping out because they spend themselves out of the business. They didn’t know it would take money after the initial sign up fee or product purchase. They didn’t know that if they want to grow the business that they would have to buy leads and marketing materials. Sadly, when you don’t have the money to fund the business, it won't grow.
Type (2) People Wanting To Make A Quick Buck:
Businesses, in addition to some money, take time and effort to grow. A major flaw in the current industry is that most leaders don't tell you that your friends and family might not see the business for the great opportunity it is. When that happens, people either must go and talk to every person they can or they must purchase business opportunity leads. To introduce the business face-to-face to all of these people takes time.
What really gets my goat is when top money earners are quick to tell people that they made the Super Duper $100,000 bonus in just 6 months. But they fail to disclose the number of companies before this one, in which they tried and failed. They don’t tell people that the REAL reason they got that Bonus in just 2 months was because they brought a downline of 500+ over from another company, a downline that took them YEARS to build. This lack of information gives most opportunity seekers a false expectation of the time and effort it takes to succeed.
Typically Quick Buck people quit after a few months, when the reality of the time comittment sets in.
*Note: As a Referring Travel Agent with YTB, making some extra money really is as easy as just sending people to your travel website to book their travel. When they do, you'll earn 60% of the travel commission. This is a way that you can make some extra money, and the more travel you book, the more money you make.
To attempt to avoid these results, we always tell our prospects what it really takes to make it in the business. That’s why I'm writing this article. I don't want a single person to join YTB with my team unless they know exactly what it will take to succeed. With that said….
You’re probably wondering… is she going to say anything good about Network Marketing?
You bet!
Unlike traditional businesses, which take a lot of start-up capital (typically between 10s of thousands to millions) for things like rent, insurance, inventory, legal fees, licenses, etc., network marketing allows people to have their own business for a fraction of the cost. It's the most affordable way for someone who wants to be his or her own boss, to start a business.
It gives the little guy a chance to make way more money than he ever could at his 9 to 5. It gives people a better chance at living the American Dream than a lottery ticket. The best part is, there are TONS of average people like you and me, making MILLIONS in network marketing. It is a real possibility, if you are willing and able to do what it takes.
Consider these things before signing up with any network marketing or MLM company:
1. If you have little to no money to grow the business, are you willing to talk to everyone in a 3-foot radius to tell them about your business?
That’s what it’ll take for you to get your business going if you have little to no money. It CAN be done. Just ask Juliet St. John, a YTB director, who was living out of her car when she discovered YTB. Now she’s living the American Dream. But if you ask her, she’ll tell you that it took hard work. If you aren’t willing to consistently talk to people for one to two years at least to get money coming in consistently, a network marketing business isn't right for you.
2. What are you willing to do to grow your business once your contacts or “warm market” has been exhausted? You’ve pretty much got two choices:
A. Purchase Leads
This means you'll make hundreds of cold-calls to business opportunity seekers, a large percentage of which will be rude and hang up on you. This method has be proven to work too, but it truly is a numbers game. You’ll need to make a whole lot of phone calls to grow your organization this way.
B. Start marketing your business on the Internet.
This method takes a lot of time and of course, some money. If you want to market your business on the Internet, you must accept the fact that it takes several months of hard work of laying the foundation before you start seeing results. It takes time to get your presence out on the Internet. You’ll also need to be willing to invest time and some money in educational materials. If you are new to this industry and/or this style of marketing, you will become a student again. (without the horrible tests) : )
The great thing about the Internet is, if you HATE the idea of making a sales pitch, or going to a hotel meeting, or pestering your friends and family, like I do, you can still grow your business! How?
By using what’s known as an “Attraction Marketing” campaign. In just a few short months, we have people contacting us on a daily basis inquiring about our YTB Travel business. We teach our team to grow their business the same way.
After all of this, you may be wondering why I am being so brutally honest about what it takes to succeed in YTB. In fact, I'll be that several Network Marketing veterans will be pretty mad at me for being so honest. They’ll say that I’m scaring off prospects. I probably am. But I don’t care. Want to know why?
We personally mentor each of our team members to help them reach their goals, no matter how large or small. We aren’t interested in wasting our time working with people who are unable or unwilling to do what it takes to succeed. We want a team of solid business owners who are serious about having their own business; who acknowledge that it takes time, effort, and money to grow a business; and who are willing to do what it takes to reach their business goals.
If I haven’t scared you off yet, then you’re the kind of person we want on our team. Unlike many sponsors out there, when you join our team, we’re with you every step of the way. Because we are so honest about what it takes to succeed in this business, we know that finding people who are willing and able to do it are so few and far between that it’s a lot like mining for gold. That's why, when someone joins our team, we automatically know they are like gold. And we treat them as such.
Tired of the Traditional MLM Recipe?
This guy said that 99% of network marketers don’t want to know about how to brand themselves in their business or learn the skill of lead generation and, he said, that people didn't have the mental capacity to do it. I was appalled. How cynical. How insulting to the 99% of network marketers in the industry.
The ironic part of it, as my mentor Daegan Smith, pointed out, was that this was coming from a guy sending out an email to a list of subscribers he had created through personal lead generation and self branding.
This veteran’s view was eerily similar to a guy I studied in college- Karl Marx. You may have heard of him, the Father of Communism. Karl Marx believed that people are too stupid to make their own decisions on how to spend their money. Thus, it was the job of the almighty government to tell them how to spend their money. This guy’s idea that 99% of network marketers don’t have the ability to learn how to brand themselves is not much different that Mr. Marx’s.
It doesn’t surprise me all that much though, when you think about it. This guy made his money the old-fashioned way. Talking to everyone within a 3-foot radius. He knows how tough it is to build a business that way. That’s exactly why only approximately 3% really make money in network marketing…that is…until now.
With the Internet came the ability to talk with a person across the country with the click of a mouse. With the Internet came our ability to grow a business much faster than the Veterans did. And the people who figured out how to use the Internet to achieve this feat became instant MLM leaders, and this doesn’t make the “old school” guys very happy. They are miffed that someone could build an organization equal in size to theirs in less than half the time- without cold calls, hotel meetings, and coffee appointments. So they will naysay it until the very end. They don’t want the competition for the leadership roles! Shame on them!
Considering that these folks preach from their stages in hotel meeting rooms, on conference calls, and at conventions about how their company offers the “average” person the ability to make millions. Yet, when others try to teach their distributors how to make millions, but in a different way (and a faster and much more efficient way I might add) they criticize their efforts.
If it is true that 99% of network marketers aren’t interested in self-branding (branding themselves as a leader) and generating their own leads instead of paying $5 per lead, then we’re all in trouble because the high attrition rate in network marketing will stay the same. I don’t believe that is the case at all.
Actually I believe that our industry is filled with highly motivated and innovative individuals that don't want to be given a job to do without personal thought or insight. The “old-school” way of network marketing tells people to: put people on a sizzle call. Take them to a hotel meeting. Meet them at a coffee shop. Answer their objections with these canned responses. “Edify” your upline. Close them using one of 5 methods.
It’s a job. It’s not a business. If it was a business, you would be able to infuse creativity and your own thoughts into the system. If it was a business, you would be a true leader and offer truly valuable information to your downline, not the tired old recipe handed down from generation to generation.
Yes. You can get people into the business using the traditional recipe. But you have to go through the time-consuming, emotionally draining recipe thousands of times to even build a small organization. If they say 1 out of 10 will join your business…Then after talking with 100 you’ve only got 10 people. That sounds like a pretty darn inefficient way to run a business.
With Internet marketing you can become a leader just by educating yourself and helping to educate other people on how to build a business. With internet marketing, you build a group of people who trust you, and want to do business with you.
With Internet marketing you aren’t limited to talking with people in your hometown or in cities within driving distance.
With Internet marketing people come to you to learn information. Now what’s so wrong with that? Why should we be resigned to being the hunter instead of the hunted? You shouldn’t.
I believe that Internet marketing offers the ability for people to learn how to become leaders, for them to become leaders, and for them to get rewarded for their efforts in helping others.
Network marketing offers people like you and me, who don’t have hundreds of thousands or millions to invest in a brick and mortar business, the opportunity to become a millionaire within just a few years.
I believe that you have that future waiting for you.
I don't think you are one of the 99% that he was talking about as simply needing to be told what to do because that's all that your mind can handle. How do I know?
Because I started from nothing, and if I can attract people into my business without using the tired old recipe, so can you. If I can have multiple people join my business in just a few weeks without every having spoken to them about my business, with just a minimal amount of internet marketing experience, so can you. I believe you can even if you don’t.
Why?
Because just a couple of months ago I was told that if I just worked diligently for a few months, I would start seeing people joining my business and coming to me asking about my business without my ever buying leads, cold-calling, or posting flyers around town. At times I didn’t think it would really work, but I held on to the hope, and it started happening. Faster than I ever imagined. So I keep that statement in mind and I get strength from it on the slow days, and so now I am passing it on to you
There will come a day when you'll have a thriving organization that grows without effort, and a lack of money is no longer an issue. I believe that the day will come, just a few years down the road, when you look at yourself in the mirror and say . . . "How did I get so lucky? Do I really deserve all this?"
The answer is . . . Yes you do!
And if you want to do it online I'm waiting for you so that I can teach you the REAL way to become an independent business owner and network marketing leader, not the traditional old recipe of pestering everyone in your path, but instead one where you rise up as a leader, help others attain their dreams, while at the same time attaining your own.
Have You Been Telling This Myth?
I'll be sharing these myths with you over the next week or two, in the hopes that you will pass them on to your downline, so that together, we can stop the attrition and start creating millionaires!
Myth #1: Everyone Is Your Prospect
This belief is what fuled the "3-foot rule" that I just couldn't bear to follow.
This myth causes folks to talk to every waitress, gas station attendant, Kinko's clerk, stranger in the mall, you name it. It's why I went out in 30 degree weather and placed flyers on cars in strip mall parking lots and apartment complexes...the belief that everyone is a prospect.
Why is this a myth? Think about it...
Not everyone is looking to start their own business.
Some people love their job, and wouldn't give it up for all of the money in the world.
Some people loathe network marketing and would rather die than be associated with it.
Some people don't have the money to properly run a business.
Some people are to scared to take a risk.
Others are introverts, and the idea of talking with tons of people makes them sick.
Many people just don't have the time.
Other people just don't have what it takes to be an entrepeneur...and that's okay. As a society we need doctors, we need chefs, we need farmers, we need teachers, we need lawyers (well, that may be pushing it...) The point is, civilization works because of our diversity.
Now, this doesn't mean that you shouldn't talk to your warm market about your business, and it doesn't mean that you shouldn't talk with leads. It also doesn't mean that people haven't succeeded using the 3-Foot Rule, but, for me, those traditional methods never really worked. So, I turned to internet marketing
Whether you are marketing face-to-face or on the internet, remember this: you don't need to convince ANYONE to get into your travel business. It's a waste of your time and energy. In fact, I am now building my business using this motto:
No one is worth my time until they've shown an interest in what I am offering.
It doesn't matter how qualified you think a person is, or how great you think they would be at selling travel or the travel business. Surprisingly, it isn't even enough if a person wants to start their own business. Until they take action to get more information on how to do it, they're nothing more than a bystander. They aren't a player in the game, so they aren't worth your valuable time and energy.
As a business owner, it isn't your job to convert people into business owners. As a business owners we need to get the maxiumum return for our time and effort. That means talking with people who are, for the most part, already on your same wave length. They believe in network marketing, and understand that the business is just that, a business, and not a job, which requires effort.
Maybe, you're thinking "But shouldn't at least prospect them and find out if they are on the same page as I am?"
I wouldn't.
Why?
Because in my opinion, it doesn't make a favorable first impression for your prospect.
Why?
Because by approaching them in Starbucks, you've shown them exactly how you do business- soliciting total strangers, and most people don't want to be a part of that. If someone had approached me about the YTB opportunity while I was in line for my tall nonfat vanilla latte, I probably never would have joined the business.
Why? Because as an attorney, I have a reputation in the community that I must preserve, and resorting to accosting people in Starbucks, the mall, the gas station, the grocery store, I believe, would jeopardize my reputation. Would you want to go to an attorney who cornered you at the grocery store and asked if you had any legal problems that you needed to have solved?
By following the "everyone is a prospect" mentality, you may be making things harder on yourself than need be. Why spend your valuable time trying to force a business down someone's throat? Why do that when there are millions of people out there who want to start their own business, and who are willing to come to you for advice on how to build the business. They are the ones who deserve your time and attention. They are the true prospects.
And THAT is why the primary focus of an attraction marketing campaign is providing valuable information to others. If you are just quoting pre-printed material issued by your company, you aren't offering value. Your prospects can read that for themselves. How can you get a person to join your team or company over another one? Well, the answer is two-fold:
First, by being visible on the Internet, because that is where people go for information. This is why you use the marketing tools in Pay It Forward 4 Profits and Success Express. If you are on page 56 of a Google search for your business, people can't find you. If they can't find you, they can't ask you for your help.
Second, by offering your prospects valuable information that others aren't. I've had prospects tell me that they would prefer to be on my team because I didn't just try to make the quick close.
Through my articles and forum posts, my prospects learn more about my business than through the glossy sales material everyone else is giving them. They want to be with the person that sets themselves apart from the rest of the pack.
Are You a Wanna-be or An Entrepeneur?
Wanna-be’s obsess about ideas.
Entrepreneurs obsess about implementation.
Wanna-be’s seek a perfect plan.
Entrepreneurs execute and adjust the plan later.
Wanna-be’s wait for their lucky break.
Entrepreneurs engineer 4, 5, 6 plans and execute them in tandem,
wagering that at least one plan will get traction.
Wanna-be’s fear looking stupid in front of their friends.
Entrepreneurs willingly risk making fools of themselves,
knowing that long-term success is a good trade for short-term loss of dignity.
Wanna-be’s shield their precious ideas from harsh reality, postponing the verdict of success or failure until ’someday.’
Entrepreneurs expose their ideas to cold reality as soon as reasonably possible.
Wanna-be’s put off practicing basketball until they’ve got Air Jordans.
Entrepreneurs practice barefoot behind the garage.
Wanna-be’s think about the world in terms of COULD and SHOULD.
Entrepreneurs think in terms of IS and CAN BE.
From Perry Marshall's 12 Differences Between Those Who Dream and Those Who Act
So, which are you? A Wanna-Be or an Entrepeneur?
Here's a test:
How many books on network marketing do you own?
How many conference calls are you on each week?
How many people do you talk to about your business each day?
What would you be willing to give and sacrifice to succeed?
If the answer isn't "whatever it takes"- you are just wasting your time.
If you aren't currently reading a book on network marketing or personal development, if you aren't on training calls, and/or you aren't talking with or learning how to improve your business on a DAILY basis... you are a wanna-be.
If you blame others, a lack of money, a lack of knowledge, and/or a lack of time
for your current situation...
you are a wanna-be.
What are the qualities of an entrepeneur?
A willingness to spend their last dime on training or advertising if necessary.
Refusal to wait for their sponsor to return a phone call or e-mail before taking action.
Never complaining that they didn't make a profit in their first few months in a business.
Never putting all of their faith into one system, but instead learning from many systems.
Never complaining about the cost of growing their business, they know it is a small price to pay.
Never being "too busy" or "too tired" to grow their business.
Never asking others if they think that they can "really succeed" in a business.
Always willing to put in more work than they initially get rewarded for.
What difference does any of this make?
Wanna-be's make up the 97% of people who fail in network marketing
Entrepeneurs are the 1% of network marketers that you see on stage, in nice cars, in nice homes, and are at the top of their business.
For some of you, reading this will be an affirmation- that you are on the path to success.
Congratulations! Keep Up the Good Work!
Others of you are pretty mad right now...
how dare SHE call ME a wanna-be!
Just one question:
What Are You Going To Do About It?
Those who are furious will just close this window, and go back to doing things on their own for awhile.
3 months later, they will quit the business.
For many of you, however, this will be an AH-HAH moment. One where you realize that you are a wanna-be,
but have a burning desire to be an entrepeneur.
Why be an entrepeneur?
When you look to join a business...whose team do you want to join?
The person who studies the industry, has a positive attitude, has tasted success and can teach you how to succeed? (the entrepeneur)
or
The whiney, complainer, who doesn't know much except for the canned sales pitch? (the wanna-be)
Now you are probably asking...
Natasha, can a wanna-be become an entrepeneur?
Of Course!
I like to call wanna-be's with a desire to become an entrepeneur...
The Power of Traffic Exchanges
As an internet marketer, you know just how expensive Pay-Per-Click (PPCs) can be. If you are new to internet marketing, and you don't know what you're doing, you will lose a lot of money to Google AdWords, Yahoo! Search Marketing trying to figure out how to do it. (Don't worry, that topic will be featured in another article)
So, are you just destined to lose money until you become an expert? Not a chance! There are numerous other online advertising options open to you besides PPC, and I will be covering them in the weeks ahead.
My first foray into the world of Internet Marketing was with something called "traffic exchanges". Traffic exchange websites allow you to earn advertising credits. These credits are then used to advertise your websites to thousands of users within the exchange.
Most, if not all of the traffic exchange websites, allow you to purchase hundreds or thousands of hits for next to nothing, so you can focus your time on marketing your business using other techniques.
Several of the sites even have games to keep you entertained while earning credits.
Another thing I like about traffic exchanges is the number of back links you receive for your website. The more popular the traffic exchange sites become, the higher your page rank becomes in search engines like Google and Yahoo. Not only will you attract new visitors to your website daily from the exchange, but you also have a chance to get your website listed higher in the search engine listings.
So, while you are fine tuning your PPC skills, make sure to incorporate traffic exchanges into your marketing plan. If you do, you will watch your visitors increase by hundreds, if not thousands every month, which of course, translates to more sales for you!
Are you a surfing addict? If you want to learn how to drive more traffic to your site than you ever thought possible, join the Profit Machine Team for FREE by clicking HERE, then send an e-mail requesting the Traffic Exchange Secret to bluescitytravel@yahoo.com
